EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Psilocybin tea, wind chimes and a tie-dye mattress greet those who enter Epic Healing Eugene, America’s first licensed center to experience magic mushrooms. Its waiting list is dozens of names long for a chance to see vivid geometric shapes, lose their sense of identity and feel one with the universe. The center isn’t a pharmacy, nor do customers need a doctor’s referral. Instead, they have preparation sessions with a facilitator who stays with them as they take the mind-bending drug. Facilitators can deny access to those with active psychosis or thoughts of harming others.
